Venice ”Marco Polo” Airport is managed by SAVE S.p.A., founded in 1987. The international airport, inaugurated in 1960, is 13 km from the centre of Venice and is named after the famous Venetian explorer Marco Polo.

In 2002 it was renovated with the construction of a new airport terminal. The landside area, accessible to the public, is structured on three floors: the Arrivals are on the ground floor, the Departures area on the first floor and the offices and business center on the second floor.

The sterile airside area is also structured on three floors: Arrivals with baggage reclaim on the ground floor, Departures on the first floor and shops, restaurants and lounges on the second floor.
 
Venice Airport is part of an airport system, the North East Airport Pole, which includes the airports of Venice, Treviso, Verona and Brescia. The Save Group also holds 27.65% of Brussels Charleroi airport.

Transportation to/from the airport
Train
Venice Airport is connected to the Venice Mestre and Venice Santa Lucia Railway Stations via an urban and suburban bus service.
 
Bus
  • The Venice Express bus line (Atvo) and the urban bus line (Actv) for Venice Airport leave from Piazzale Roma in Venice. Journey time about 35 minutes.
  • The urban bus line (Actv) and the Mestre Express bus service (Atvo) to Venice Airport leave from the Venice Mestre Railway Station. Journey time about 20-25 minutes.
  • At the airport, bus connections to the train stations are located at the Arrivals. Venice Airport Bus Express connects Venice Santa Lucia Station with the airport. Other urban bus lines connect both Venezia Mestre Station and Venezia Santa Lucia Station to the airport.
  • With extra-urban buses, Venice Airport is connected to other locations such as: Mestre, Treviso, Padua, Abano, Montegrotto Terme, Portogruaro, Pordenone, seaside resorts in Veneto (Jesolo, Cavallino, Eraclea, Bibione, Lignano), Ljubliana, alpine resorts (Cortina, Alpago, Val Zoldana, Val Pusteria), alpine resorts during the winter season (Arabba, Marmolada, Alleghe, Falcade, Canale D'Agordo, Selva di Cadore, Val di Zordo, Val di Fassa, Val di Fiemme and San Martino di Castrozza).
 
Vaporetto
In the dock of Venice Airport there is a water transport service by vaporetto with connections to Venice and the islands of Murano, Burano and Lido. Tickets can be purchased in the Arrivals hall of the airport, automatic ticket machines for baggage reclaim, ticket office in the dock or on board the vaporetto.
  • At the airport, you can take the vaporetto on the first floor of the Terminal where a pedestrian path, even with moving walkways, leads to the dock.
  • In Venice, you can take the vaporetto from the airport to the Alilaguna of San Marco, Rialto, Fondamenta Nuove, Guglie stops.
  • In the islands of Venice, it is possible to take the vaporetto to the airport in the Alilaguna stops in Murano, Burano and Lido.
 
Taxi
Taxis at Venice Airport are located in front of the Terminal exit on the ground floor (Radiotaxi).
 
Car
From the A4 Milan-Padua-Venice motorway, take the Mestre Villanova exit and follow the signs for the airport A27. From the A4 Trieste-Udine and A27 Belluno-Treviso motorways, follow the liberalised stretch of motorway after the Quarto d’Altino (A4) exit and Mogliano Veneto (A27) exit until the airport junction. On the urban network follow the directions for Venice on the SS11 and continue on the SS14 Triestina.

Car hire
The car rental companies at the airport in Venice are located on the 3rd floor of the Multi-storey Car Park P1 and are: Auto Europa, Autovia, Avis - Budget, Europcar Italia, Hertz, Locauto, Maggiore, Leasys and Sixt.
