Venice ”Marco Polo” Airport is managed by SAVE S.p.A., which was founded in 1987. This international airport, opened in 1960, is 13 km from the centre of Venice and is named after the famous Venetian explorer Marco Polo.
In 2002 it was restored and a new airport terminal was built. The landside area, which is accessible to the public, is arranged over three floors: arrivals are on the ground floor, departures on the second and offices and the business centre on the third. The secured, airside area is also arranged over three floors: departures are on the first floor and the shops, restaurants and lounges are on the second floor. Venice Airport is part of an airport system that includes the airports of Venice and Treviso.
