Dom Pérignon and Jean-Michel Basquiat
A tribute to the great artist in a special edition of Vintage 2015
Dom Pérignon and Jean-Michel Basquiat are two icons who, although belonging to different times and contexts, have both defined and influenced their respective and future eras. Their artistic visions, although different, intersect in a creative dialogue that explores new expressive territories. With a special edition of Vintage 2015, Dom Pérignon pays a heartfelt tribute to Basquiat, an artist who, while remaining true to his roots, revolutionized the contemporary art scene with his unmistakable and powerful style.
The connection between Dom Pérignon and Basquiat's creative universe is visible through a visual and symbolic encounter that superimposes the Maison's emblem, the shield, on Basquiat's three-pointed crown, a distinctive sign that distinguishes his work. This meeting is not only aesthetic, but represents the union of two worlds and two stories, intertwining their values and creativity in a common vision.
Dom Pérignon's shield, which has a dual function in the world of heraldry, recalls not only the protection of a territory and a community, but also the distinctive symbol of the Maison, which represents the link with the origins in Hautvillers and the constant ambition to preserve the uniqueness of the brand. On the other hand, Basquiat's crown is a powerful symbol of authority and is used by the artist to elevate the subjects of his works, commenting on the power dynamics that distinguish his poetics.
These two iconic symbols, simple yet full of meaning, blend harmoniously into a visual creation that represents a tribute to innovation and excellence, elevating both brands to new creative heights. For this tribute, Dom Pérignon chose Basquiat's work "In Italian" (1983), an enigmatic and deeply significant painting.
The celebration of this encounter between art and savoir-faire takes the form of a limited edition of Vintage 2015 coffrets and bottles, conceived according to the principle of assemblage, a central concept for both Dom Pérignon and Basquiat. The collection includes three coffrets, each decorated with a part of the painting "In Italian", which can be reassembled to form the complete work. The design is studied in detail to harmoniously integrate the emblem of the Maison into the colors and shapes of the painting, creating a refined play of lines and surfaces. The label of the bottles, available in three color variants, combines Basquiat's three-pointed crown with Dom Pérignon's shield, thus sealing this artistic collaboration.
The collection is also enriched with a special edition, limited to eight pieces, designed for collectors and art lovers, created in collaboration with Artestar, a creative consultancy agency representing world-renowned artists and foundations. This unique encounter between Dom Pérignon and Jean-Michel Basquiat celebrates art and excellence, offering a product that is both a celebration of taste and creativity.
