Sharm el Sheikh

The Sharm El-Sheikh International Airport is considered to be the second (after Cairo) major airport in Egypt. The airport has approximately 10 million passenger traffic yearly.

The airport is located in the heart of the resort area just near the Red Sea coast. The Sharm El Sheikh airport dispatches regular flights to Cairo, the capital of Egypt, different cities of the Europe and the Middle East. However the main air traffic consists of the season charter flights from the Western and Eastern Europe, Scandinavian and Baltic countries and Russia.

The infrastructure of the airport has been constantly improved in order to increase the passenger services quality. The Sharm El Sheikh airport possesses two passenger terminals : Terminal 2 (the old one) and Terminal 1 (the new terminal) open in 2007.

Regular transportation in Sharm El Sheikh is carried out by private carriers offering the passengers only minibuses. The bus stops are located next to the Sharm El Sheikh airport passenger Terminal 1. The Sharm El Sheikh public transport is peculiar of the absence of fixed stops on the route, pick-up and drop-off is made on demand. It takes about 15 minute drive to the center of the Sharm El Sheikh city.

 

Car

The Sharm El Sheik Airport his located in 11 kilometers northeast from the city of Sharm El Sheikh.
