Air Cairo expands connections from Italy and develops new hub in Hurghada

Flights from eight Italian airports to Egypt, new connections via Hurghada to Nairobi, Mombasa and Zanzibar and free visa for up to 96 hours during transit

Air Cairo aims to grow in 2026 by increasing the number of passengers carried and expanding its fleet. The company currently has 43 aircraft and expects to reach 46 by the end of the year.

Italy represents an important market for the carrier. Air Cairo operates from Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Catania, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Rome Fiumicino and Verona, connecting these Italian airports with several Egyptian destinations, including Sharm El Sheikh, Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.

Among the novelties of the Air Cairo network there is also El Alamein, while particular attention is paid to the development of Hurghada Airport (HRG) as a new connection hub. The project is designed to facilitate travel from Italy to some destinations in East Africa, including Nairobi, Mombasa and Zanzibar, through a stopover in Hurghada.

Transit passengers are also offered a free 96-hour visa, which allows them to turn the stopover into an opportunity to visit Hurghada or continue to Cairo or Luxor. Air Cairo is planning special flights and additional frequencies to Luxor on the occasion of the total solar eclipse scheduled for July 2027.
