Florence Airport, named after Amerigo Vespucci, is managed by Toscana Aeroporti S.p.A., the management company for Florence and Pisa airports.

Toscana Aeroporti S.p.A. was created on 2015 through the merger of AdF – Aeroporto di Firenze S.p.A. (management company of Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport) and SAT - Società Aeroporto Toscano S.p.A. (management company of Galileo Galilei Airport of Pisa), with the creation of a unified Tuscan airport system.

In 1992, the building was inaugurated and two years later the new terminal for departures was opened. The airport was expanded in 1996 and the runway, previously 1,400 metres long, was lengthened by 250 metres; the departure area was enlarged further.

At the end of 1999, work began to renovate and expand the departure and arrival terminals, the aircraft parking bays and the other areas dedicated to operational and commercial management of the airport. The airport is equipped with 40 Check-in and 10 Gates.

Florence Airport is located just 4 km from the city center of Florence and offers connections to Italian and European destinations for business and leisure traffic.

Tramway

Tramway connection T2 between the airport and the center of Florence with terminus in Piazza dell'Unità Italiana. Journey time about 20 minutes.
