The following low-cost airlines are part of the Wizz Air Holdings Plc. group: Wizz Air Hungary Ltd. (founded in 2003), Wizz Air Uk (founded in 2017), Wizz Air Abu Dhabi (founded in 2019) and Wizz Air Malta Limited (founded in 2022).
Wizz Air bases and fleet
Wizz Air's main bases are located in Budapest, Bucharest and London (Luton). It has 33 operational bases in 17 Countries and, in Italy, it operates from 27 airports with operational bases in the North in Milan Malpensa and Venice, in the Center in Rome Fiumicino and, in the South, in Naples and Catania.
Wizz Air’s modern fleet consists of over 200 Airbus A320 aircraft with 180/186 seats, A321 with 230 seats and A321Neo with 239 seats. In 2025, the new Airbus A321XLR aircraft also joined the fleet to offer long-range, low-cost intercontinental flights, in the name of comfort, efficiency and sustainability.
Awards
The airline has been named one of the ten safest airlines in the world by airlineratings.com and has received the title of “Airline of the Year” at the Air Transport Awards in 2019 and 2023. Wizz Air has also been recognised as the “Most Sustainable Low-Cost Airline” from 2021 to 2023 and “Best Carbon Reduction Airline” at the World Finance Sustainability Awards in 2024. It also received the award “EMEA’s Environmental Sustainability Airline Group of the Year” at the CAPA-Centre for Aviation Awards for Excellence 2024.
