Wizz Air boosts connectivity in Catania and Comiso
Wizz Air and SAC, the management company of Catania Fontanarossa and Comiso airports, have announced a new investment in the airport hub of South-East Sicily. Starting from May 2026, the company will base a third Airbus A321neo aircraft in Catania, strengthening the airport's strategic role in the carrier's Italian and international network.
The investment also includes the introduction of a new international route to Tel Aviv with four weekly frequencies. The connection adds to an already extensive portfolio of European destinations, which includes Warsaw (Chopin Airport), London (Gatwick Airport), Budapest, Prague and Vilnius, as well as connections to Gdansk, Krakow and Bucharest (Otopeni Airport), and the Comiso–Tirana route.
At the same time, Wizz Air strengthens the domestic offer from Catania, responding to the mobility needs of those traveling for business or family reasons along the North-South axis. The third Airbus A321neo (a new generation aircraft known for superior comfort, low noise and low emissions), will enable a targeted increase in frequencies:
- Catania–Milan Malpensa: increase from 12 to 19 weekly frequencies starting from 4 May 2026;
- Catania–Turin: increase from 11 to 14 weekly frequencies from 4 May 2026.
With the third based aircraft, Wizz Air will operate a total of 18 routes to 10 countries from Catania (CTA) and Comiso (CIY) airports.
