Volotea opens a base in Ancona
Volotea will open a new operational base at Ancona Marche Airport in December 2026, the eighth in Italy and the twenty-second in the company's European network. An Airbus A320 will be based at the airport, with the expected creation of 30 direct and about 170 indirect jobs.
The decision strengthens the carrier's presence in the Marche region and prepares a new phase of development of connections, with additional destinations to be announced in the coming weeks.
Six routes in 2026
Volotea has been operating in Ancona since 2012 and has carried over 1.2 million passengers so far. In the first six months of 2026, it recorded an average flight occupancy rate of 95%.
For the current year, the company connects Ancona with Barcelona, Catania, Madrid, Olbia, Palermo and Paris (Orly). The route to Palermo will also be operated throughout the year.
New routes coming soon
The opening of the base will allow the network from Ancona Airport to be progressively expanded. Volotea and the airport are analyzing the demand of the territory, travel flows and the needs of citizens and businesses to identify the most useful connections. The goal is to strengthen the connectivity of the Marche with the main Italian and European cities and, at the same time, encourage the arrival of new tourist flows in the region.
