Wizz Air inaugurates Rome-Tallinn flight

Three weekly frequencies connect the capital to Estonia, strengthening Wizz Air's network to Northern Europe

Wizz Air strengthens its network from Rome Fiumicino with the new direct flight to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. The inaugural flight was celebrated on April 27, 2026 together with Aeroporti di Roma, marking a new step in the company's growth at Rome's main airport.

The Rome Fiumicino-Tallinn route is operated three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and allows Italian passengers to directly reach one of the most fascinating destinations in Northern Europe

The new connection makes almost 56 thousand seats available during the year, thanks to over 230 flights planned between Rome and Tallinn. Like the rest of the company's Italian network, this route will also be served with Airbus A321neo aircraft, new generation aircraft designed to ensure greater fuel efficiency, lower CO₂ emissions and a quieter and more comfortable on-board experience.

For Rome Fiumicino, the flight to Tallinn confirms the airport's role as Wizz Air's main Italian base. The company now has 17 based aircraft and 78 international routes to 31 countries. In 2026, Wizz Air will offer more than 9.1 million seats from Fiumicino, with a growth of 22.5% compared to the previous year, consolidating its presence at the airport with a market share of 14.4%.

Tallinn is an ideal destination for a short trip or for a more in-depth stay between culture, architecture and innovation. Overlooking the Baltic Sea, the Estonian capital is known for its medieval Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where cobbled streets, towers and perfectly preserved walls tell the story of the city's Hanseatic heritage. Alongside the old-world charm, Tallinn shows a contemporary and dynamic soul. It is one of the most digitized cities in Europe, with a creative ecosystem made up of start-ups, design, technology, culture and new gastronomic proposals. This balance between past and future makes it a particularly attractive destination for those looking for an authentic Northern European experience.

The opening of the route to Tallinn is part of a broader expansion strategy from Rome Fiumicino. Wizz Air will continue to expand its network from the capital to the Baltic countries, Northern Europe, Central and Eastern Europe and the main destinations in the Mediterranean.

The airline is also increasing frequencies and capacity on some of Rome's most popular leisure routes, including Palma de Mallorca, Valencia, Malaga, Ibiza, Bilbao, Alicante, Corfu and Santorini. Connections to Budapest, Krakow, Gdansk and Sofia have also been strengthened, while the increase in frequencies on the domestic route to Lampedusa will offer more choice to passengers heading to the Sicilian island.

In Italy, Wizz Air confirms its role as a key carrier. The company currently operates 300 routes to 33 countries from 26 Italian airports and in 2025 it carried over 21 million passengers to and from the country, with a growth of 8% compared to the previous year. In 2026, the total offer will exceed 31 million seats, supported by a modern Italian fleet that will count 41 Airbus A321neo aircraft.
