New partnership between Volotea and Ita Airways
On 15 April 2026, the new bilateral codeshare agreement between Volotea and ITA Airways came into force, an agreement that aims to strengthen connections between Italy and Europe.
For passengers, the novelty translates into a wider travel network and greater possibilities of connection. Thanks to the codeshare, the two companies will provide a combined network with up to 104 travel combinations (O&D). The agreement is based on Volotea's current network to Rome Fiumicino and on ITA Airways' network from its Roman hub, with the aim of making connections between numerous Italian and European destinations simpler and more efficient.
The collaboration will improve connectivity via Rome Fiumicino to several destinations in the ITA Airways network, including Milan Linate, Catania, Palermo, Brindisi, Trieste, Genoa, Reggio Calabria, Frankfurt, Paris, London, Zurich, Tirana and Amsterdam.
At the same time, the agreement will also open new routes through the hubs of Madrid and Barcelona, with connections to destinations operated by Volotea such as Murcia, Asturias and Vitoria.
The agreement also allows ITA Airways to expand its commercial offer to also include cities served by the Volotea network, including Asturias, Bilbao, Bordeaux, Lourdes/Tarbes, Nantes and Strasbourg, with additional connection opportunities via Spain. For Volotea, on the other hand, the agreement strengthens commercial visibility in new European markets and consolidates the company's role in connections between medium and small cities.
For travellers, one of the most interesting aspects of the agreement between Volotea and Ita Airways is the possibility of accessing a wider number of integrated itineraries, with a more extensive network between Italy and Europe and with Rome Fiumicino increasingly central as a connection point.
