Eurowings expands summer network from Berlin
Eurowings continues to strengthen its presence in the European market and announces for summer 2026 an expansion of its network from Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) which also involves Italy, confirming the growing interest of German passengers in the main leisure destinations of the peninsula.
In the new summer schedule, the Lufthansa group company introduces Naples and Olbia among the new destinations reachable from Berlin, alongside an increase in frequencies to several Italian cities already served, responding to the ever-growing demand for cultural trips, city breaks and seaside holidays in the Mediterranean.
New routes to Italy: Naples and Olbia protagonists of summer 2026
Among the main innovations for next year is the introduction of the Berlin-Naples route, which expands access to one of the most iconic and lively cities of Italian tourism. Naples thus becomes a privileged gateway to the islands of the Gulf, the Amalfi Coast, Vesuvius and the UNESCO sites of the Campania region, with an offer designed to attract both German leisure travellers and those flying for cultural or food and wine reasons.
For the seaside segment, Eurowings also includes Berlin-Olbia in the program, a connection much appreciated by the German market. The gateway to the north-east of Sardinia will allow Travellers to easily reach La Maddalena, the Costa Smeralda and the most famous beaches of the Mediterranean, destinations particularly requested in the summer.
Enhanced frequencies to the most popular Italian destinations
In addition to the new routes, Eurowings is increasing frequencies to several Italian destinations already in its network, confirming Italy as one of the most strategic leisure markets from Berlin.
Among the destinations that will see the most flights during summer 2026 are:
- Lamezia Terme and Catania (routes traditionally very popular with the German public),
- Bari, Brindisi and Cagliari (strengthened according to summer demand and seaside tourism).
An expanded offer that meets the needs of Italian and German Travellers, facilitating fast, convenient and well-distributed travel during peak periods.
An extended network, a larger fleet
The expansion of routes to Italy is part of a broader growth plan: Eurowings will increase the BER-based fleet to nine aircraft, enhancing capacity and ensuring more non-stop connections to Southern Europe, including Italy.
Eurowings, the low-cost airline of the Lufthansa Group, is the market leader at the airports of the cities of Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Cologne/Bonn and currently has a fleet of around 100 aircraft. In its current summer schedule, the airline flies to more than 150 destinations in Europe. With its extensive route network and 13 international bases, including Palma de Mallorca, it is Germany's largest holiday airline.
