British Airways' new destinations for Italy
For 2025, the airline adds Rimini and Salerno to its route network, along with an additional service to Olbia from London City
British Airways, the British airline with the most destinations in Italy, has announced three new routes for summer 2025, further strengthening its offer to our country. The new destinations Rimini, Salerno and Olbia, represent an important expansion of the company's European network and will be operational from May 2025. With these additions, British Airways will reach a total of 19 Italian destinations, confirming Italy as its main European market and the second globally after the United States.
The new Italian routes
From May, British Airways will introduce direct flights to Rimini (RMI) on the Adriatic coast, operated by London Heathrow, and to Salerno (QSR) on the Amalfi Coast, served by London Gatwick through its subsidiary BA Euroflyer. In addition, a new connection from London City to Olbia (OLB) in Sardinia will be added to the existing flights from Heathrow.
Details on the new routes
Rimini (RMI)
From 15 May 2025, British Airways will operate three weekly flights (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) from Heathrow to Rimini, one of the most popular seaside destinations on the Adriatic Riviera. The city is also a great base for exploring San Marino, a small independent state located nearby, with a UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic centre. Flights to Rimini will be available until 27 September 2025.
Salerno (QSR)
From 22 May 2025, BA Euroflyer will introduce three weekly flights (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) from Gatwick to Salerno, Campania. Salerno Costa d'Amalfi Airport, open to commercial flights only in 2024, offers an alternative to Naples to reach the famous resorts of the Amalfi Coast, such as Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. Flights to Salerno will be available until October 25, 2025.
Olbia (OLB)
Olbia, located on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, will be served by two London airports in 2025. BA Cityflyer, the London City-based subsidiary of British Airways, will introduce a new weekly service from 25 May, which will become bi-weekly (Wednesday and Sunday) from 16 July. This will be in addition to the flights already operating from Heathrow. Flights to Olbia will be available until 28 September 2025.
British Airways' network
British Airways continues to strengthen its position as a leader in flights from London, operating from three major airports: Heathrow, Gatwick and London City. With nearly 200 destinations in over 65 countries, the airline offers one of the world's largest route networks, both domestically and internationally.
