Tromsø

Tromsø Airport is located approximately 5.5 km from the city of Tromsø. The airport opened in 1964, replacing Tromsø Skattøra Airport, a water aerodrome.

The airport has two terminals. Terminal A, opened in 1997, and Terminal B in 1977. Scheduled flights operate from Terminal A, while regional airlines operate from both terminals. Tromsø Airport is currently engaged in the expansion of the main terminal to offer a greater service to passengers who, during the works, can use a temporary Terminal C. The airport's departure hall offers shops, a duty-free shop, food and beverage outlets and bars.

Norwegian operates daily flights from Tromsø, both to Oslo and other Norwegian cities, and also offers seasonal direct flights from Tromsø to London (Gatwick) and other European destinations such as Berlin, Paris and Milan Bergamo starting in January 2024 (read the news).

The airport management company is Avinor, responsible for 44 state airports and the air traffic control service for civil and military aviation in Norway. Avinor is a state-owned joint stock company wholly owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Transport and Communications. The company has a leading role in the development of electric aircraft, the supply of biofuel for aircraft and contributes to 50 million flights every year and around half of these are to and from Oslo Airport.
