Asturias Airport, also known as Oviedo Airport, is the main airport in Asturias, Spain. Asturias Airport is located in Santiago del Monte, in the municipality of Castrillón, about 47 kilometers from Oviedo. Other nearby cities are: Avilés at about 15 km and Gijón at 40 km.
Asturias Airport offers scheduled flights to Spanish cities, such as Madrid, Barcelona, Tenerife or Palma de Mallorca. International flights are mostly within Europe, to the UK, France, Belgium or Italy. Air traffic at Asturias Airport consists mainly of scheduled flights served by domestic and international commercial airlines. Among the airlines that fly to and from Oviedo are: Iberia, Volotea, Vueling and Ryanair.
Various interventions have been carried out in recent years (adaptation of the runways, expansion of the apron and expansion of the terminal) to provide the airport with better infrastructure and services. In 2012, further infrastructure and 1,700 m2 of floor space were added in the terminal, with a new baggage reclaim hall, a new passport control post for international flights, a new security control system and handling of checked baggage. In 2021, a project to modernize the runway, signage and aviation lighting systems and power supplies with LED lighting technology was completed.
The airport offers various services for passengers as well as shops, bars, restaurants and duty free shops by Aelia Duty Free on the first floor of the departures area. The management company of Asturias airport is Aena.
