2020-2023 The historic covers of Avion Tourism Magazine

The new era of technological, shareable, and sustainable HTML digital magazines
The fifth edition of the magazine marks the development of a unique digital editorial project in the landscape of online publications. The content, previously released in digital PDF format, starting from N74 in 2020, is now edited in HTML digital format, conceived, formatted, and published to be directly accessible on all technological devices: computers, tablets, and mobile phones.

While the cover graphics remain unchanged, what alters is the structure and layout of the editorial content. Unlike traditional paper magazines or digital PDFs, Avion Tourism Magazine HTML is designed for reading through page scrolling (vertical scrolling of content).
The decision to use this technology was made to enhance accessibility, reaching a broader audience compared to the traditional print edition. Additionally, it allows for the inclusion not only of more content and photographic images but also videos and various multimedia elements.

The fixed sections of the digital magazine mirror the major content categories of the website, including DESTINATIONS, AIRPORT, AIRLINES, and USEFUL INFO. These sections are developed with journalistic articles dedicated to exploring the knowledge of destinations connected to Milan Bergamo Airport, news about the airport's various activities coinciding with each issue, airline connections operating at BGY, and numerous services offered to arriving passengers and those waiting for their flights.

An innovative and forward-thinking editorial project, initiated by the publisher in collaboration with Milan Bergamo Airport many months before the Covid-19 lockdown. Thanks to this project, despite the prohibition of distributing print editions for health safety reasons in airports and aboard planes, passengers and magazine readers were reached during both the months when airports were non-operational and the gradual resumption of air travel.

In 2023, the 20th anniversary year of the magazine dedicated to Milan Bergamo Airport and its connected destinations, the method of consuming HTML digital editorial content is enriched with offline reading capabilities. Even without an internet connection on all airlines operating from BGY, as well as abroad during city visits (optimizing one's operator connection costs), it is possible to read the magazine, downloaded onto personal devices, using the Avion Tourism Magazine Web App.

The evolution and changes of our time, involving increasingly technological, digital, shareable communication, and rightfully more sustainable practices to aid the environment and our planet, along with a global pandemic, have naturally led to the transition from print to an exclusively digital edition of the magazine.

Below are the top 5 magazines of the HTML digital publication era.

THE NEW DIGITAL EDITION
An Html digital edition of the new issue of Avion Tourism Magazine Special Edition for Milan Bergamo Airport has been published for the first time in 17 years, to ensure that it reaches the greatest number of readers possible compared to the paper edition alone. This will also allow the inclusion of not only more features and photographs, but also videos and other multimedia content. This new edition goes hand in hand with the evolution and changes occurring today, in which communication, and therefore publishing, has to be increasingly technological, digital, shareable and necessarily sustainable to help the environment and our planet.
The Editor together with Milan Bergamo Airport established this publishing project many months before the Covid-19 lockdown. It has proved to be extremely forward-thinking particularly because in situations where many people congregate, such as an airport, reading a magazine that has been passed around could cause significant problems from a health perspective. For this reason, paper magazines are no longer available to passengers in airport terminals and on board airlines.
We hope you will enjoy this new digital edition of the magazine, which can now be read conveniently from any mobile device - laptop, tablet or smartphone - anywhere and at any time of the day, before, during or after your trip. You’ll find new inspiration for choosing the destination of your dreams, flying from Milan Bergamo Airport.

In this issue, we invite you to travel in Italy, not just because it is an extremely beautiful country and one the whole world envies, but also because at this very difficult time we have chosen to support our country by promoting uniquely charming destinations for spending the summer and autumn holidays, all of which can be reached with direct flights from Milan Bergamo Airport.

Make yourself comfortable because there is an abundance of Italian destinations served by Bergamo Airport. Read all about the fascinating places featured in this issue - Alghero, Bari, Brindisi, Cagliari, Catania, Crotone, Lamezia Terme, Lampedusa, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Pescara, Pantelleria and Trapani - and find inspiration for choosing a place to spend your next few days of holiday. You’ll also find the latest news from the Airport, information on the airlines that have begun flying again to and from Milan Bergamo, and other useful travel advice.

With the launch of the new winter season 2021-22, Milan Bergamo Airport is ready to offer its passengers a range of destinations for a wonderful holiday, even if this is just a long weekend getting away from it all for a well-earned rest. Some 114 destinations in 39 countries are just a short flight away. This vast array of routes for the winter season is operated from the airport by 16 airlines, including some new arrivals: EasyJet, Eurowings, Flyr and Vueling.
In this issue we propose 10 fantastic destinations to visit in autumn and winter and offer some useful suggestions for choosing your next destination to visit and, at last, depart. As well as an article on the international event of the moment: Expo 2020 Dubai, the first Universal Expo that brings together 200 countries and millions of visitors after the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Two interesting interviews with Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation, and Paolo Deforza, Head of the Environmental Affairs Unit, highlight the strategic role and environmental commitment of Milan Bergamo Airport. The airport has always been on the front line for offering passengers an excellent service and for its commitment by continuously expanding its infrastructure to make it more modern and accessible, also in terms of sustainability, services and passenger safety. This commitment has been certified by Tüv Süd, which has renewed the Hygiene Synopsis certificate for correctly implementing measures to prevent the risk of Covid-19, and by ACI World, the association of the world’s airports, which once again accredited SACBO under the Airport Health Accreditation programme, highlighting its priorities concerning the health and safety measures adopted in the airport.

Some of the new routes operating out of the airport include Birmingham, Helsinki, Liverpool, Stockholm Arlanda and Toulouse, which are served by Ryanair; London Gatwick and Amsterdam, served by EasyJet, as well as Paris Orly operated by Vueling. In addition, Eurowings now flies to Düsseldorf and Flyr to Oslo-Gardermoen Airport.

An airport that is increasingly appreciated for the numerous services offered (Car parks, VIP Lounges, Fast Track, BGY Top, restaurants and stores for shopping while waiting for your flight), which have recorded significant improvements in passenger satisfaction indices, as declared recently by the Airports Council International (ACI World).

The Milan Bergamo Airport, with the start of the new winter season, offers extraordinary opportunities for travel, whether for business or pleasure, to over 121 destinations in 39 countries, all waiting to be discovered or rediscovered with a fresh perspective. The airlines operating at the airport are diverse and continually introduce new destinations, expanding not only their network but also a world of new possibilities for travel from BGY.

Passengers departing from Milan Bergamo are pleased with an airport that is increasingly modern and spacious, ready to offer punctual and quality services. This is demonstrated by the traveler satisfaction index, which positions it at the absolute top in Europe for the third quarter of 2023, according to the latest data from ACI World. So, all that's left is to depart and plan the next journey from Milan Bergamo Airport.

In this issue of the magazine, you will discover various proposals with truly exciting destinations to spend a pleasant vacation. It starts with long-haul flights from Milan Bergamo, reaching many intercontinental destinations with a brief stopover in Dubai. The journey continues with an exploration of the Northern Lights in the great North of the planet, to be enchanted by the colorful lights dancing in the sky, starting from Bergamo to reach Tromsø in northern Norway and Rovaniemi in northern Finland in Lapland, also known as the home of Santa Claus.

For those who prefer milder and warmer countries over cold ones, we suggest the best tours in the Sharjah desert to indulge in the dunes, where atmosphere and fun are guaranteed. For those who can only afford a few days of vacation, we recommend an unforgettable city break in Rotterdam, home to the largest port in Europe and one of the largest in the world - a charming city ideal for a long weekend. Finally, a journey of taste and tastings to discover the capital of Serbia through Serbian cuisine and the flavors of Belgrade.

The end of this year is near, and we are all ready to look towards new horizons and unique destinations where we can spend quality leisure time, be it for a short weekend or longer holidays. Whatever your next destination, the editorial team wishes everyone unforgettable journeys.
