Alitalia uniforms on display in ITA Airways lounges at Fiumicino
ITA Airways enhances the historical heritage of the Alitalia brand with an exhibition dedicated to the uniforms that have accompanied the company's cabin and ground staff for decades. The initiative tells the story of the encounter between aviation, fashion and Italian identity, retracing the evolution of national air style and service.
The exhibition is set up in three locations linked to the ITA Airways experience: the Piazza di Spagna lounge at Terminal 3 and the Hangar Lounge at Terminal 1 of Rome Fiumicino airport, accessible to the company's customers, and the Palazzina Alfa, the company headquarters reserved for staff.
The uniforms are presented in display cases conceived as small narrative environments. Each installation recalls the historical and creative context of the time through references to aircraft cabins, flight geometries, Pop Art, aeronautical design and contemporary travel.
The itinerary brings together the creations signed by the Fontana Sisters, Delia Biagiotti, Tita Rossi, Mila Schön, Alberto Fabiani, Fiorenza Marzotto, Lebole, Renato Balestra, Giorgio Armani and Mondrian. Fabrics, colors, lines and accessories show how Alitalia's image has changed along with Italian society and the way of traveling.
From the first uniforms inspired by the elegance of the great international divas to the bon ton of the Sixties, up to the influences of the Space Age, the colors of the Seventies and the refinement of the Eighties, each uniform represents a phase in the history of the company and the expansion of international connections.
For passengers in transit at Rome Fiumicino, the exhibition offers the opportunity to discover a chapter in the history of Italian aviation directly in the airport spaces. The initiative is part of ITA Airways ' strategy to preserve and reinterpret Alitalia's visual and cultural heritage, acquired as a distinctive asset of the company.
