Wizz Air announces a new daily route from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) to Bratislava (BTS), operating from 16 March 2026. The airline further consolidates its position at the Roman airport as a strategic hub of its European network.

Bratislava: elegance on the banks of the Danube

Overlooking the majestic Danube River, the Slovak capital Bratislava is a city of authentic charm that combines historic architecture with contemporary style. Its panoramic castle dominates a pedestrianised old town dotted with cafés, galleries and baroque squares, while its location in the Danube region and the heart of Central Europe makes it an ideal base for exploring neighbouring countries such as Austria and Hungary.

Rome Fiumicino: a constantly growing base

With over 580 direct employees and 63 routes to 24 countries, Rome Fiumicino is Wizz Air's largest Italian base. The new connection from Rome to Bratislava follows by a few weeks the introduction of the 14th aircraft and the expansion of the network with new routes to London, Malaga, Podgorica, Sharm El-Sheikh and Valencia.

Over the past year, Wizz Air has operated over 25,000 flights to and from Rome Fiumicino, carrying more than 5.4 million passengers (+5.6% compared to the previous year).

Throughout Italy, Wizz Air operates 245 routes in 32 countries, serving 27 Italian airports with a fleet of 27 Airbus A321neos. In 2025, the airline carried nearly 16 million passengers, an increase of 9.5% year-on-year, maintaining a 99.8% completion rate on more than 75,000 flights.
