Wizz Air boosts its offer at Rome Fiumicino

15th aircraft, more flights for the summer and early capacity to Corfu, Crete Heraklion, Ibiza, Lampedusa, Mykonos, Palma de Mallorca, Santorini, Tallinn and Varna

Wizz Air, one of the main carriers in Italy and chosen by over 21 million passengers in the country in 2025, announces a new expansion of the Rome Fiumicino base in view of summer 2026. With the early arrival of the 15th Airbus A321neo in April, the airline will be able to increase capacity and frequencies early, putting more than 220,000 additional seats on sale between May and September.

The transaction makes it possible to anticipate routes already announced and strengthen the most popular leisure connections, responding promptly to summer demand. Rome is thus confirmed as a strategic hub for Wizz Air's flights to the Baltic countries, Bulgaria and the Mediterranean islands, with tickets already available.

In detail, some destinations will see an early start of programming:

  • Tallinn and Varna will start as early as May instead of September;
  • Palma de Mallorca will become daily from May and will rise to two flights a day from June;
  • Ibiza will benefit from an increase in capacity already between April and May, up to 12 weekly flights from Rome;
  • Mykonos will be operated with four weekly frequencies from May,
  • while Crete Heraklion will enter the program as early as April;
  • further upgrades will concern Lampedusa, Corfu and Santorini, to support the strong seasonal demand.

The Rome-Tallinn and Rome-Varna routes also strengthen Wizz Air's leadership at the airport, as they are exclusively operated connections: the company remains the only carrier to offer direct flights from the capital to the Estonian capital and the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

In addition to the investment in Rome Fiumicino, Wizz Air consolidates its position with 261 active routes, 91 destinations in over 30 countries and operations from 26 Italian airports, confirming Italy as one of the key markets of the carrier's European network.
