Spain is confirmed as one of the most important markets in Wizz Air's network and, for 2026, the low-cost airline significantly strengthens the connections between Italy and Spain, expanding the overall offer in terms of routes, frequencies and capacity. For the 2026 summer season, Wizz Air will put on sale over 3 million seats on Italy-Spain connections, an increase of 26% year-on-year. The overall network between the two countries will count 25 routes, strengthening one of the most sought-after air corridors in Europe.

The 2026 schedule includes a marked increase in frequencies to some of Spain's most popular destinations. Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Seville and Valencia will be served with daily flights, ideal for both short stays and longer holidays.

Madrid will arrive up to 10 flights per week, with double frequencies on the days of greatest demand, while Malaga will be connected with 5 weekly flights.

Among the main novelties is the new connection to Bilbao, operated 4 times a week, which expands direct access from Italy to the Basque Country, one of the most popular Spanish regions for culture, gastronomy and urban tourism. Flights to Alicante have also been confirmed, also with 4 weekly frequencies, strengthening the offer to the Costa Blanca.

Wizz Air flights to Spain depart from four Italian airports: Milan Malpensa, Rome Fiumicino, Naples and Venice, expanding the possibilities of departure for passengers in more areas of the country.

Flights from Milan Malpensa to Spain

For the 2026 summer season, Milan Malpensa is confirmed as one of the main departure points for flying to Spain with Wizz Air, thanks to an articulated network that directly connects the Lombard airport to some of the most popular destinations on the Iberian Peninsula.

From Milan Malpensa Airport, the airline operates direct flights to Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Alicante and Bilbao, offering passengers a wide choice of major cultural cities, beach destinations and emerging destinations in northern Spain.

Total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026: a unique spectacle in Spain

On August 12, 2026, Spain will experience an extraordinary event: a total solar eclipse, the first visible from the Iberian Peninsula in more than 120 years. The band of totality will cross 13 autonomous communities, from Galicia to the Balearic Islands, making the country a privileged destination for astronomy enthusiasts and travellers.

The best viewing conditions will be in Galicia, Asturias, Castilla y León, the Basque Country, La Rioja and southern Aragon. Although cities such as A Coruña, Oviedo, Santander, León, Bilbao and Palma de Mallorca attract many visitors, experts recommend choosing inland and less crowded locations, where clearer skies and natural landscapes allow you to experience the eclipse in a more authentic way.
