Volotea celebrates 10 million passengers in Olbia
Volotea has reached a historic milestone at Olbia airport: the 10 millionth passenger transported since 2012. A result that testifies to the bond built with Sardinia in over a decade of activity and which confirms the airport as the most important base for the company in Italy and the third in Europe.
This new page was written by an Olbia-Venice flight: the 10 million passenger is Maria Agostina Sannai, an architect from Orosei, who will receive a year of free flights with Volotea as a prize. A symbolic moment, considering that the Venice-Olbia route was the first operated by the company in 2012.
From 2012 to date, Volotea has strengthened its presence in Olbia, inaugurating its operational base in 2021, which today employs over 90 employees in the peak period, one third of whom are Sardinian. For 2025, the company confirms 27 routes to 3 countries – 14 destinations in Italy, 10 in France and 3 in Spain – with 1.1 million seats on sale, positioning itself as the first carrier in terms of number of active connections.
Volotea is also investing in seasonal adjustment for Olbia Costa Smeralda airport: in addition to the route to Rome Fiumicino in territorial continuity, in winter 2025 it will maintain connections to Venice, Verona, Turin, Barcelona and Paris Orly (an absolute novelty). During the Christmas holidays, flights to Bologna and Milan Bergamo will also return, ensuring a national and international network active all year round.
The operating results confirm the quality of the service: from January to August, Volotea recorded a recommendation rate of 90%, an NPS of 45.1, a completion factor of 99.4% and a punctuality index (OTP15) of 75.6%.
For Summer 2025, the airline operated nearly 3,400 flights, carrying around 550,000 passengers with a load factor of 93%. Also this year Volotea has renewed its proximity to the territory by supporting the Red Valley Festival, a reference musical event in Olbia, as a sponsor.
