This expansion reflects Wizz Air's commitment to improving Salerno's connectivity with Europe, promoting tourism to the region. Sasha Vislaus, Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz Air, underlined the strategic value of Salerno airport, while Roberto Barbieri, CEO of GESAC, said that the arrival of Wizz Air is a testimony to the growing international attractiveness of the Campania airport network.
The new flights, which depart during the winter season, represent an important addition for the region, combining connectivity and tourist attractiveness and enhancing the visibility of Salerno as a hub for air traffic to Europe. The partnership also aims at a continuous growth of routes and an expansion of infrastructure, with new development prospects for the Salerno airport.
Salerno Airport - Amalfi Coast
Salerno - Costa d'Amalfi Airport is the second airport in Campania after Naples Airport. After the first phase of development, a second phase of the Development Plan is planned, which includes, among other investments, the further extension of the runway up to 2,200 meters and the construction of the new Passenger Terminal, scheduled for 2026. The new terminal, of about 16 thousand square meters, will reflect the highest environmental standards both in terms of energy efficiency and the use of natural and sustainable materials, with architectural choices based on respect for the environment, integration with the territory and connection with the landscape.
