Rome takes off for Miami
American Airlines and Aeroporti di Roma celebrate the inauguration of the new direct connection between Rome Fiumicino and Miami, operational from June 6, 2025 with a daily frequency until October 25. The flight represents a strategic novelty in the extensive expansion plan of the company's transatlantic network, which now connects the Italian capital to six US hubs: New York JFK, Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, Charlotte, Dallas/Fort Worth and, of course, Miami.
The connection is operated by a Boeing 777-200, departing from Fiumicino at 13:50 and arriving in Miami at 18:55 local time. The return flight departs Miami at 7:45 p.m., landing in Rome at 11:50 a.m. the following day.
Miami is a key hub for American Airlines to the Caribbean and Latin America, with more than 140 destinations served in more than 40 countries, including exclusive routes to destinations such as South Caicos, Ocho Rios and La Romana. The inclusion of Rome in the Miami network strengthens accessibility for European passengers to the entire American continent.
The service aims for a premium travel experience, with Business Class and Premium Economy cabins, high-speed Wi-Fi, live streaming, and an entertainment system with over 1,500 free content updated regularly.
To crown the inauguration, Fiumicino Airport was awarded the Customer Cup for the first quarter of 2025, an award given by American Airlines for operational excellence, punctuality, efficiency of ground services and high passenger satisfaction.
With a total of 12 daily flights from Italian airports scheduled for summer 2025, American Airlines is confirmed as one of the reference carriers for routes between Italy and the United States, strengthening the central role of Rome Fiumicino Airport in transatlantic connections.
