Cathay Pacific has more flights from Hong Kong to mainland China
Focus on Beijing and Shanghai
Cathay is focusing decisively on the strategic areas of the Yangtze River Delta and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, increasing daily frequencies to the two main Chinese metropolises.
- Beijing: they rise to 7 daily flights to Beijing Capital Airport, to which is added 1 flight per day to Beijing Daxing operated by HK Express. Total: 56 weekly flights.
- Shanghai: Reaches 8 daily flights to Shanghai Pudong and 11 weekly flights to Shanghai Hongqiao, for a total of 67 weekly flights between Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Expansion to other strategic cities
The increase in supply also affects many other key destinations:
- Zhengzhou, Ningbo, Haikou and Chongqing: from 4 flights per week to 1 flight per day. HK Express also supports the route to Ningbo on a daily basis.
- Hangzhou: 4 daily flights.
- Nanjing: 2 daily flights.
- Wenzhou: 10 flights per week.
- Wuhan: 12 flights per week.
Added to these is an absolute novelty: from 28 April 2025, Cathay launches a direct flight between Hong Kong and Urumqi, the gateway to the north-western region of Xinjiang.
Overall, the summer offer represents a 40% increase compared to 2024, consolidating Hong Kong's role as a strategic crossroads between China and the rest of the world, and fostering economic and cultural exchange between the two realities.
The international network is also growing
In parallel, the Cathay Group expands its global network of destinations: in 2025 13 new destinations will be added, including:
- Cathay Pacific: Hyderabad, Dallas, Urumqi, Rome, Munich, Brussels.
- HK Express: Sendai, Nha Trang, Ishigaki, Komatsu, Cheongju, Daegu, Miyako (Shimojishima).
By the end of next year, the Group will operate to more than 100 passenger destinations, offering an increasingly connected global travel experience.
