Cathay Pacific adds Hong Kong-Urumqi flight to its network
In addition to Urumqi, the airline will launch direct flights to Hyderabad in March, Dallas in April, Rome and Munich in June and Brussels in August, aiming to reach 100 global destinations in 2025
Cathay Pacific continues the expansion of its global network by announcing the launch of direct flights between Hong Kong and Urumqi, starting from 28 April 2025. The new service, which operates four times a week, brings the number of passenger destinations served by the Cathay Group in mainland China to 20.
A strategic link between Hong Kong and northwestern China
With the inauguration of the route to Urumqi, a key hub of the Belt and Road Initiative, Cathay Pacific is reinforcing its commitment to improving connectivity between Hong Kong and mainland China.
During the 2025 summer season, Cathay Pacific and its low-cost airline HK Express will operate over 290 weekly flights between Hong Kong and mainland China, serving key destinations such as Beijing (Capital and Daxing), Shanghai (Pudong and Hongqiao), Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Sanya, Wuhan, Xi'an and many more.
Through the Hong Kong hub, passengers from Urumqi will be able to connect with Cathay Pacific's extensive intercontinental network, which includes destinations in Asia, Europe, North America, the Southwest Pacific, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, thanks to the Individual Visit Scheme, travelers from Urumqi will also be able to visit Hong Kong for individual trips without the need for an organized tour.
