With Vueling in Spain to see the total eclipse
On August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will cross part of Europe and will be visible in particularly favorable conditions from different parts of Spain. Vueling offers a number of destinations connected directly from Italy to combine the astronomical event with a summer holiday.
The totality band will affect the Basque coast, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. For a few moments, the Moon will completely cover the Sun, transforming Bilbao, Tarragona, Ibiza and Menorca into privileged observation points.
Bilbao and the Basque coast
In Bilbao, the total eclipse will begin around 8:28 p.m. and will last about 30 seconds. The city can become the starting point for visiting the Guggenheim Museum, strolling along the estuary and exploring the Basque coast between cliffs, small towns and gastronomic traditions.
Bilbao can be reached by Vueling from Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino.
Tarragona and Barcelona
In Tarragona the totality phase will be visible from 20:29 for just over a minute. The Costa Dorada town is home to the Roman archaeological complex, the amphitheater, the forum and the Cathedral of Santa Tecla. The proximity to Barcelona also allows you to visit this city. Vueling connects Barcelona with Bari, Bologna, Cagliari, Catania, Florence, Genoa, Milan Malpensa, Naples, Olbia, Palermo, Rome Fiumicino, Turin and Venice.
Ibiza and Menorca
In the Balearic Islands the totality is expected around 20:33 and will last about a minute. Coves, beaches and viewpoints will offer a suggestive setting. In Ibiza the journey can continue between Cala Comte, Cala d'Hort, Dalt Vila, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària. Menorca, on the other hand, is suitable for those looking for nature and archaeological sites, from the Camí de Cavalls to the villages of Mahón and Ciutadella. Ibiza can be reached by Vueling from Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino, while Menorca is directly connected to Florence.
