The city is located right in the heart of the country which, in the 1700s, first distinguished itself as a small fishing village and then became an important trade center for the transit of goods between India, Muscat, Baghdad, Persia and Arabia. Subsequently, Kuwait City was established in 1756 into a Sheikhdom, ruled by the Al Sabah dynasty.
