Started the process for naming Pantelleria Airport after Giorgio Armani

The Board of Directors of ENAC met on 17 September, at Pantelleria airport, chaired by President Pierluigi Di Palma. During the meeting, the Council accepted the proposal of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Sen. Matteo Salvini, to name Pantelleria airport after the designer Giorgio Armani, who has always been deeply linked to the island's community. The opening of an investigation and the start of the necessary discussions with the designer's family was therefore ordered.

According to President Di Palma, the naming of the airport after Giorgio Armani is part of the path of enhancement of the infrastructure already started by ENAC with the direct management of the in-house company Enac Servizi, which operates as a driving force for growth, development and tourism, as well as constituting a strategic garrison for territorial continuity.

Among the topics addressed during the Board of Directors, there is also the next ICAO Assembly scheduled in Montreal from 23 September, during which President Di Palma will present the ENAC "PET Care on Board" initiative in the Skytalk dedicated to the air transport of pets in the cabin and ITA Airways' first demonstration flight.

ENAC Board Member Dr. Benedetta Fiorini said: "I welcomed with great satisfaction the suggestion to request the start of the process to name the airport after Giorgio Armani, in recognition of his extraordinary contribution and undisputed symbol of Made in Italy all over the world, as well as synonymous with quality, elegance and innovation and a strong attachment to this island. The ENAC initiative in favor of the transport of PETs in the cabin is also part of this path of innovation, which has received great worldwide media attention and which makes us a forerunner of a new concept of flight also in the name of the well-being of our four-legged friends".

The Pantelleria meeting was attended by the Director General of ENAC Alexander D'Orsogna, the Councilors Prof. Giulia De Martino, Dr. Benedetta Fiorini, Gen. Isp. Chief Giuseppe Antonio Lupoli, the Delegated Magistrate of the Court of Auditors, Pres. Pino Zingale, and the members of the Board of Auditors of the Institution, Dr. Serena Lamartina, Matteo Adinolfi and Antonella Bientinesi. Also present at the opening were the spokesman for the MIT Deputy Minister Giuseppe Sciortino, the Head of the Secretariat Mauro Mineo and the Sole Director of Enac Servizi Marco Trombetti.
