ENAC at ICAN 2025: bilateral agreements and a new boost to Italy's air connectivity
Positive results for the Italian delegation led by ENAC President Pierluigi Di Palma and Central Director of Economic Planning and Infrastructure Development Claudio Eminente at ICAN 2025 (ICAO Air Services Negotiation), held in Punta Cana from 10 to 14 November.
The event, focused on the negotiation of air services, saw ENAC engaged in numerous bilateral meetings to update aeronautical agreements and strengthen institutional relations for the benefit of connectivity to and from Italy.
During the week, new understandings and/or updated existing agreements were concluded with Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, El Salvador, the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic. At the same time, discussions have been initiated with Luxembourg, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Zambia, Seychelles and South Africa, which are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
The agreements aim to support economic, commercial, tourist and cultural development, consolidating the role of air transport as a driving force for the country system.
"Italy's participation in ICAN 2025 confirms ENAC's commitment to promoting sustainable and safe growth in air transport, in line with European policies and ICAO objectives," said Pierluigi Di Palma, underlining how dialogue and cooperation with States and operators are essential for a more integrated, efficient and environmentally friendly aviation system.
