Extension of the T2 tram line between Florence and the airport
Managed by Gest, the line will connect Peretola airport to St. Mark's Square in 35 minutes, in a sustainable way and improving mobility in the city
Gest, a subsidiary of Ratp Dev, has started operations on the extension of its T2 tram line, which now connects Peretola Airport with Piazza San Marco in Florence. With the addition of six new stops, the T2 line, which already guarantees about 800 daily trips, carried 11.5 million passengers in 2024 and is expected to attract more than 3.4 million new travelers with this extension.
With the opening of this new extension, the tram service will reach the historic center of the city from Florence airport in just 35 minutes. The Tuscan branch of Ratp Dev plays a fundamental role in reducing congestion and pollution, thanks to its electric and ecological tram lines, which complete the Florence bus network managed by Autolinee Toscane, another subsidiary of Ratp Dev that operates in the entire regional public transport system, recently enriched by new electric buses.
Gest operates Florence's tram network, including lines T1 and T2, which connect the main areas of the city, including Florence Airport. The company offers accessible, reliable, efficient and sustainable urban mobility solutions, responding to everyone's needs. With millions of travelers transported each year, it actively contributes to the city's transition to more sustainable and connected urban mobility . In addition, Gest is also preparing to manage the new T3 tram line, which will connect "Libertà" to "Bagno a Ripoli", for the construction of which work began on January 25.
