Discovering Billund with the new routes from Italy
From spring 2026, it will be even easier from Italy to reach western Denmark thanks to new direct routes to Billund departing from Milan Bergamo Airport BGY (from 2 April 2026), Rome and Naples to a region full of attractions. The new connections will be operated by the airline Norwegian.
Families and fans of city breaks and nature will have direct access to an area that is still little known but of great charm. There are several differentiated experiences, from family-friendly tourism to cultural and outdoor proposals.
What to visit during a holiday in Billund
Billund, the heart of the LEGO experience
Billund is known around the world as the home of LEGO, with two iconic attractions such as LEGOLAND® Billund Resort and LEGO House, must-see stops for families and fans of the famous bricks of all ages. But its offer goes beyond themed fun: Billund is the ideal starting point to discover the whole of Jutland, between cultural experiences, unspoilt nature and lively cities.
Jutland: cities and landscapes a short distance from Billund
One of the main strengths of a trip to Denmark is the ease of travel: the short distances, modern infrastructure and efficient rail and public transport connections allow you to enjoy many different experiences within a single itinerary.
Kolding and Vejle
A few kilometers from Billund there are two charming towns overlooking the fjords. Kolding is famous for the Koldinghus, an imposing medieval castle that has now been transformed into a lively cultural centre, and for the Trapholt Museum, dedicated to modern art and Danish design. Vejle, on the other hand, surprises with its avant-garde waterfront, where nature and architecture dialogue harmoniously, symbolized by the iconic building 'The Wave'.
Aarhus
Aarhus, Denmark's second largest city just an hour from Billund, is a vibrant blend of contemporary architecture and tradition. From the ARoS Museum with the famous installation 'Your Rainbow Panorama' to the modern port area of Aarhus Ø, to the characteristic Latin Quarter with its boutiques and cafés, the city surprises with the variety of its offer. Aarhus is also a major gastronomic hub, with Michelin-starred restaurants and an innovative culinary scene that makes the most of local produce.
The west coast of Jutland
The west coast of Jutland, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for the Wadden Sea, offers an immersive experience in close contact with nature: wide wild beaches, dunes shaped by the wind, birdwatching and outdoor activities. Here you can experience the thrill of an oyster safari or take guided tours of the tides. An authentic and majestic landscape, perfect for those who want freedom and silence.
In and around Horsens
On the eastern side is Horsens, a vibrant city that combines urban art, museums and an ever-growing cultural scene. Its surroundings invite you to discover Denmark in a 'slow' way: cycle routes along the coast and inland, evocative landscapes and the islands of Tunø and Endelave, small paradises of unspoiled nature easily accessible by ferry.
North Jutland
At the northern end you reach Skagen, an iconic town where the waters of the North Sea and the Baltic Sea meet, creating a unique landscape in the world. In addition to its natural beauty, Skagen also holds a strong artistic appeal, linked to the famous school of painters who, at the end of the nineteenth century, found their greatest source of inspiration here.
