Venice Airport: news for the 2025-2026 winter season
In the first nine months of 2025, Venice's Marco Polo airport confirmed its international vocation, strengthening its position as Italy's third largest intercontinental airport. Long-haul traffic, both direct and with intermediate stops, now represents 25% of total volumes, testifying to an increasingly solid global network.
The performance towards North America, which continues to be the main intercontinental area served by Marco Polo, was particularly brilliant: over 950 thousand passengers from January to September and a growth of +6% compared to the same period in 2024, mark a new record season for transatlantic connections.
Winter 2025-2026
The 2025-2026 winter season opens with important news on all long, medium and short-haul routes. The United States remains a protagonist thanks to the year-round extension of Delta Air Lines' Venice - New York (JFK Airport) flight, which thus becomes annual, and the extension until December 18 of United Airlines' Venice - New York (EWR Newark Airport) connection, confirming the centrality of the American market for the Venetian airport.
From December 2025, Wizz Air will strengthen its presence at Marco Polo with a third based aircraft and seven new destinations: Bordeaux, Larnaca, London (Luton), Kutaisi (Georgia), Tallinn, Tel Aviv and Valencia. An expansion that significantly expands the offer of point-to-point flights and contributes to direct connectivity between Venice and Europe.
Among the network carriers, SAS also confirms the flight to Copenhagen for the winter season, while Finnair will bring forward the resumption of its operations to Helsinki to 4 February, thus consolidating connections with the main hubs in Northern Europe.
Summer 2026
A look ahead to next summer 2026 anticipates further developments: Icelandair will inaugurate a new three-weekly direct Venice - Reykjavik connection, which, in addition to meeting the growing demand to Iceland, will offer convenient connections to North America.
On the German front, Condor will connect Venice airport three times a day with Frankfurt starting in May, ensuring easy connections to the most popular long-haul destinations, such as the Caribbean and sub-Saharan Africa.
