Jazeera Airways inaugurates flight between Kuwait City and Milan Bergamo Airport
Jazeera Airways' first flight landed at Milan Bergamo airport on Friday 22 May 2026, marking the start of a strategic route for both leisure travellers and those travelling for business, institutional or family reasons.
The new flight is operated three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with Airbus A320neo aircraft. For passengers departing from Kuwait, Milan Bergamo Airport thus becomes a new gateway to Lombardy and Northern Italy; for Italian Travellers, the connection offers a direct connection to Kuwait and the Gulf area.
The inauguration of the route was celebrated at Milan Bergamo Airport with a press conference in the presence of Kuwaiti diplomatic authorities, the top management of Jazeera Airways and representatives of SACBO. The event was attended, among others, by Nasser Alqahtani, Ambassador of Kuwait to Italy, Mohammed Khaled Al-Ajran, Consul General of the State of Kuwait in Milan, Barathan Pasupathi, CEO of Jazeera Airways, and Paul Carroll, Commercial Director of the company. On behalf of SACBO were the Vice President Fabio Bombardieri, the General Manager Amelia Corti and Giacomo Cattaneo, Aviation Sales, Marketing and Communication Director.
In his introductory speech, Fabio Bombardieri, SACBO Vice President, underlined the value of the new connection for the airport and for the Bergamo area. The route with Kuwait City is part of the growth path of the airport, which in the last 25 years has consolidated its role as a strategic infrastructure for Lombardy and as a gateway for tourist, economic and cultural flows.
The direct connection with Kuwait takes on a significance that goes beyond the operational aspect. On the one hand, it expands the international network of Milan Bergamo Airport, and on the other, it fosters new relationships between territories, businesses, institutions and communities. Bergamo, with its artistic, landscape and productive heritage, becomes even more accessible for Kuwaiti Travellers, while Kuwait approaches the public of Northern Italy.
For the occasion, ENAC President Pierluigi Di Palma highlighted how the opening of the connection strengthens the strategic axis between Italy and Kuwait, creating a bridge between Europe and the Arabian Peninsula. According to ENAC, involved in the development of bilateral relations for the opening of this route, the expansion of air connections represents a lever to fuel tourism, support employment and encourage new investment opportunities, at a time when Italian air transport has confirmed its full recovery with 230 million passengers in Italian airports in 2025.
The Ambassador of Kuwait to Italy, Nasser Alqahtani, also underlined the diplomatic and economic value of the new route, calling it an important step in strengthening the excellent relations between the State of Kuwait and the Italian Republic. The direct flight between Kuwait City and Bergamo represents, in his words, a further bridge of communication between the two peoples and an opportunity to intensify bilateral relations in the economic, tourism and investment sectors.
The new flight also comes in a significant year for relations between the two countries: the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Italy. A context that makes the start of the route even more relevant, not only as a transport service, but also as a concrete tool for connecting markets and cultures.
For passengers, the connection between Kuwait Airport (KWI) and Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) offers a new possibility of direct travel to one of the most dynamic areas of Italy. From the Bergamo airport it is possible to easily reach Bergamo, with its historic center and the Upper Town, but also Milan, the Lombard lakes, the Alpine destinations and the main production areas of Northern Italy.
At the same time, the flight of Jazeera Airways opens up to Italian Travellers a direct connection with Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait and an economic centre overlooking the Persian Gulf. The city can appeal to both business traffic and those who want to discover a Gulf destination that is even less traveled than other regional capitals, but rich in urban life, contemporary architecture, waterfronts, shopping and culture.
