Kuwait International Airport is located in the Middle East in the State of Kuwait in the governorate of Farwaniya about 16 kilometers from the center of Kuwait City.
The airport is served by several airlines, both traditional and low-cost, and is the main hub of Kuwait Airways, Kuwait's flag carrier, and Kuwaiti low-cost Jazeera Airways serving both domestic and international destinations.
For passengers, the airport offers several services such as a commercial space with shops (Airport Mall) right next to the main terminal building (connected with the Departures and Arrivals areas), banks, pharmacy, Duty Free, Food Court with bars and restaurants in addition to lounges. In addition, it has an airport hotel, the Safir Airport Hotel, which is located within the reserved area of the airport, accessible from the runway and reachable by free shuttle 10 minutes from the terminal.
In 2009, the airport also opened a General Aviation Terminal (Sheikh Saad Terminal) dedicated to private flights.
Kuwait International Airport is committed to expanding its infrastructure to increase operational capacity with a project for a new terminal.
At the heart of the project is a next-generation terminal by Foster + Partners, designed to elevate the passenger experience through advanced comfort standards, while also defining a new benchmark of environmental sustainability in airport architecture. Foster + Partners' new project for Kuwait Airport is scheduled for completion in 2027.
