Etihad Airways' Abu Dhabi Stopover continues successfully
The program allows you to discover Abu Dhabi during a layover, enjoying a free stay of one or two nights in luxury hotels
Etihad Airways, the flag carrier airline of the United Arab Emirates, together with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, is celebrating the expansion of the Abu Dhabi Stopover programme. The relaunch of the initiative has exceeded all expectations, giving a significant boost to the emirate's tourism sector.
The programme, designed exclusively for Etihad passengers, has seen exponential growth since it was relaunched. In the first half of 2024, it attracted over 24,000 international visitors, a jump of 242% from the 7,000 recorded in the second half of 2023. This extraordinary increase bodes well for the initiative to reach the ambitious goal of 75,000 visitors by the end of 2024.
Thanks to this program, travelers have the opportunity to discover Abu Dhabi during a layover, with an average stay of two nights. The initiative has been particularly successful with tourists from key markets such as the UK, US, Australia, European Union and India. Passengers flying with Etihad can easily add a stopover in Abu Dhabi and enjoy a complimentary one- or two-night stay in selected luxury hotels , turning their transit into an enriching sightseeing experience. Building on this success, Etihad Airways and DCT Abu Dhabi are exploring new possibilities to further enrich the programme, with the aim of offering travellers added value and even more exclusive experiences.
Connecting 80 global destinations through the modern Zayed International Airport, strategically located on the city's doorstep, Etihad makes it easy for transit visitors to explore the beauty of Abu Dhabi before continuing on to their next destination. From Italy , Etihad Airways flies to Abu Dhabi from Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino.
