Wizz Air's new routes from Palermo

From 6 September, the company will increase the number of aircraft based on it to three, launching new flights to Barcelona, Dortmund, Marrakech, Pisa, Prague and Rome Fiumicino, expanding the offer from Palermo to 17 connections to 12 countries

Wizz Air significantly expands its presence at Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport. From 6 September 2026, the airline will increase the number of aircraft based at the airport from two to three, strengthening the offer on both the domestic and international markets and consolidating Palermo's role among the carrier's growing bases in Italy.

The arrival of the third aircraft, an Airbus A321neo, will allow the launch of six new connections, including two domestic and four international. These innovations also include three destinations not yet served by Palermo: Prague, Marrakech and Dortmund.

In detail, the Palermo - Barcelona connection will depart from 6 September 2026 with four weekly frequencies. In the summer season, flights will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, while in the winter season the service will be scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. The Palermo - Dortmund route will debut on 8 September with three weekly flights, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Palermo-Marrakech will also depart on 7 September 2026 with three weekly frequencies, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On the domestic market, Palermo - Pisa will be operational from 25 October 2026 with 10 weekly frequencies distributed over all seven days of the week, while Palermo - Rome (Fiumicino) will depart as early as 1 August 2026 with 21 weekly frequencies, equal to three flights per day. The Palermo - Prague route, on the other hand, will be active from 6 September 2026 with four weekly frequencies, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

With these additions, Wizz Air's network from Palermo Airport (PMO) will increase to 17 routes to 12 countries, offering a wider range of destinations in every season. The company already connects the Sicilian capital to other cities such as Belgrade, Bologna, Bratislava, Milan Malpensa (MXP), Skopje, Sofia, Turin, Venice, Warsaw, Venice and Sharm el-Sheikh.

Thanks to this expansion, the company will offer over 1.2 million seats from Palermo, with an increase indicated at over 17,000% compared to 2025, of which over 776,000 for the 2026 summer season alone.

In the national framework, Wizz Air highlights that it carried more than 21 million passengers to Italy in 2025, with a growth of 8% compared to the previous year, a market share of 12% and 43 aircraft based in the country. With the new aircraft based in Palermo and the six new routes, the company reaches the milestone of 300 routes from Italy to 33 countries, confirming the centrality of the Italian market in its development strategy.
