Swiss strengthens long-haul with second Airbus A350-900
SWISS welcomed its second Airbus A350-900 to Zurich, marking a further step in the transformation of its long-haul fleet. The new aircraft, registered HB-IFB and christened Delémont, is the company's first A350 to feature the classic SWISS livery, unlike the first aircraft decorated with the special "Wanderlust" livery.
The entry into service of the second Airbus A350-900 reinforces the model's role as a pillar of the Swiss carrier's intercontinental operations. The aircraft is intended to initially operate on the Zurich–Montréal route, progressively expanding its use on the network's main long-haul destinations.
The A350-900 remains central to SWISS's strategy thanks to its high operational reliability and the introduction of the new SWISS Senses cabin concept, designed to improve the travel experience on intercontinental routes. With the arrival of additional aircraft in the coming years, an increasing number of passengers will be able to benefit from this next-generation on-board standard.
With two A350s already in operation, SWISS plans to deploy the new widebodies on other key long-haul routes, including Zurich–Boston and Zurich–Seoul, strengthening its presence in the North American and Asian markets and ensuring a consistent, premium product on key intercontinental routes.
The gradual expansion of the Airbus A350 fleet is part of a broader long-haul renewal plan. In parallel, SWISS will launch an upgrade programme for the Airbus A330s, which will also be equipped with the SWISS Senses cabin, ensuring uniformity of experience across the entire intercontinental fleet.
