Lufthansa debuts with Starlink: Free high-speed Wi-Fi

From 19 August 2026, Lufthansa is introducing Starlink on board, inaugurating the new Lufthansa Group Wi-F i serviceon an Airbus A320neo. The high-speed satellite connection will be free of charge in all classes for passengers registered with Travel ID or Miles & More.

The new system will allow the Internet to be used more like a ground connection, with the ability to browse the web, use cloud applications and watch video content. For audio and video, the use of headphones will be required, while voice calls, video calls and live streaming will not be allowed.

The debut on Lufthansa represents the first step in a much larger rollout. Starlink will also be progressively installed on the aircraft of SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines, and will then be extended to the other companies of the Group.

ITA Airways is also part of the program, along with Edelweiss, Discover Airlines, Air Dolomiti, Lufthansa City Airlines and Eurowings. At the moment, however, a precise timetable for the introduction of the service on individual fleets has not been communicated.

The Lufthansa Group aims to equip around 850 aircraft with Starlink by 2029, progressively transforming high-speed Wi-Fi from an ancillary service to a standard element of the travel experience.

For passengers, it means being able to work, surf and enjoy online content with fewer restrictions even during the flight, regardless of the class booked.
