ITA Airways changes fuel management at Fiumicino with the Self Supply model

ITA Airways introduces the Self Supply model for fuel supply at its Rome Fiumicino hub, becoming the first Italian airline to directly assume the role of Fuel Trader. The novelty allows the carrier to have more direct control over the Jet Fuel supply chain and greater autonomy in the management of supplies. 

With the new model, ITA Airways will be able to buy and potentially sell fuel, increasing flexibility and operational efficiency and aiming to contain procurement costs. The project will also be able to be part of the industrial synergies being developed within the Lufthansa Group. 

For the company, greater autonomy is particularly important in a scenario characterized by the volatility of energy markets and geopolitical tensions. The goal is also to strengthen the continuity of operations and passenger service, reducing exposure to critical issues in the international energy supply chain.
