Qatar Airways orders new Boeing 777X
The airline has added 20 more Boeing 777Xs, for a total of 94 Boeing 777Xs, one of the youngest fuel-efficient fleets
At the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow (22 – 26 July 2024), the airline announced the expansion of its Boeing 777X aircraft order with the addition of 20 new Boeing 777-9s. This increase adds to the current order of 40 commercial and freighter airplanes, bringing the total to 94 Boeing 777X. In addition, the announcement includes a commitment to acquire 40 GE9X engines and replacement engines, along with a long-term services agreement.
On the first day of the event, Qatar Airways unveiled the new Qsuite Next Gen, the updated version of its Business Class, which was awarded the Best in the World. This new suite, which will also be available on the all-new Boeing 777-9, features advanced features such as mobile screens with Bluetooth connectivity, new window-side Companion Suites, fully flat and larger double beds, drawers with safety locks, touchscreen remote control, and much more.
Qatar Airways continues to stand out in the industry with one of the youngest and most modern fleets. This new order expansion for Boeing 777X aircraft will ensure future passengers have a seamless travel experience across the expanding global network, which covers more than 170 destinations.
