Etihad Airways boosts flights from Rome and Milan to Abu Dhabi
Etihad Airways is experiencing strong growth in demand for flights between Italy and Abu Dhabi, a trend that supports the emirate's tourism expansion and intensifies economic, cultural and commercial relations between Italy and the United Arab Emirates. In 2024, passengers between Italy and the Emirati capital increased by 76% compared to 2023, making Italy one of the fastest-growing European markets for the company.
To meet this expanding demand, Etihad has announced three daily flights from Milan Malpensa and two from Rome Fiumicino. The third frequency to Milan will be operated by the new Airbus A321LR, equipped with First Class, lie-flat Business seats, high-speed Wi-Fi and high-level on-board service. The introduction of this aircraft on medium-haul routes brings the standard of long-haul flights to intra-regional connections as well.
Starting from November 2025, Etihad will offer over 10,000 weekly seats per direction between Italy and Abu Dhabi (+80% compared to the same period in 2023), of which more than 1,000 in premium class, thus doubling the offer for the high-spending segment.
The strengthening of operations in Italy is also supported by strategic partnerships. In collaboration with ITA Airways and Trenitalia, Italian passengers can depart from 14 airports and 31 railway stations to reach Rome and Milan and board Etihad flights. The collaboration with ITA, which began in 2021, continues to improve connectivity between the two countries.
The Abu Dhabi Stopover program was also a great success: free stays of up to two nights in Abu Dhabi recorded a +92% increase in bookings from the Italian market compared to 2024. A formula appreciated by travelers who want to explore Abu Dhabi's cultural attractions, beaches and lifestyle.
