PRG Airport

Prague

Prague International Airport, formerly known as Prague Ruzyně Airport, is an important international airport in the capital of the Czech Republic. Founded in 1937 as a replacement for Kbely Airport, which dated back to 1918, the airport has undergone several phases of reconstruction and expansion over the years. In 2012 it was renamed in honor of former president Václav Havel, representing a significant landmark for air transport in the region.

Positioned on the edge of the Prague-Ruzyně area, near Kněževes, it is approximately 12 km west of the center of Prague and 12 km south-east of the town of Kladno. The airport plays a vital role as a hub for airlines such as Czech Airlines and Smartwings, as well as serving as a base for companies such as Ryanair and Eurowings. With an extensive network of connections, it offers flights to over 150 destinations, operated by over 60 airlines.

The airport has two main passenger terminals, two general aviation terminals and a cargo facility. Most flights operate from the North Terminals (Terminals 1 and 2), while the South Terminals (Terminals 3 and 4) handle special, VIP flights, as well as being used for small aircraft.

The airport offers all the necessary services for passengers, including lounges (both at T1 and T2), bars, restaurants, shops and duty free for airport shopping.

The management of the airport is entrusted to the joint-stock company Prague Airport (Letiště Praha, a.s.), wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance. Founded in February 2008, the airport's main headquarters are located in the Prague 6 district, while in the past the state-owned company had its headquarters within the airport complex.
