Compensation in the event of loss of or damage to baggage
What compensation is envisaged by law if my baggage is lost or damaged during the flight?
If checked baggage is lost or damaged or delivery is delayed, the passenger has the right to compensation:
- up to 1000 SDRs (approximately 1,164.00 euros) with airlines from the European Union and countries that have ratified the Montreal Convention
- up to 17 SDRs (approximately 19.00 euros) per kg with airlines from countries that have ratified the Warsaw Convention
This compensation is not due to passengers who have an additional insurance.

Remember that items of value such as
- important documents and cash,
- life-saving medicines
- fragile items (mobile phones and chargers, cameras, video cameras, CD players, etc.)
should be placed in cabin baggage or kept on your person.
The weight of checked baggage permitted for transport (both hand and hold) varies from airline to airline.
We recommend checking beforehand on the airline website and on the electronic ticket what weight is allowed so that you won’t have to pay additional costs at the time of check-in at the airport.
