Liquids over 100 ml in your carry-on baggage

ENAC specifies that the new rules are currently applied in the following Italian airports: Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Bologna and Turin

The Italian Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) announces that, in line with the recent decision of the ECAC – European Civil Aviation Conference (a pan-European organization that brings together the civil aviation authorities of 44 countries, including the 27 EU Member States and 17 non-EU countries), in some Italian airports it is now possible to carry liquids in hand luggage even in containers larger than 100 ml.

This important innovation is currently operational in the following airports, equipped with the latest generation scanners capable of accurately analyzing the contents of baggage, including liquids, during security checks:

  • Rome Fiumicino (FCO)
  • Milan Linate (LIN)
  • Milan Malpensa (MXP)
  • Bologna (BLQ)
  • Turin (TRN)

In other Italian airports, however, the current EU regulations remain in force, which require liquids to be transported in individual containers of up to 100 ml, placed in a 1-liter resealable transparent bag, to be presented separately during security checks.

ENAC reminds passengers to always check the rules in force at the departure airport, to facilitate procedures and travel in a serene manner and in compliance with the provisions.
