Oktoberfest 2024
Munich prepares for the beer festival: more attractions and special attention to accessibility
From September 21 to October 6, 2024, Munich will host the Oktoberfest, the famous festival that attracts millions of visitors from all over the world every year. This year, the 189th edition will open with the traditional tapping of the first barrel of beer by Mayor Dieter Reiter, which will take place at 12:00 noon in the Schottenhamel tent.
The Oktoberfest is an open-air party that takes place in the Theresienwiese, a large park in the center of Munich , the lively and beating heart of the event where the characteristic beer halls, the "Bierzelte", will offer in addition to the beer served in the Maß (one-liter glasses) the famous local foods such as Weiss Wurst (veal sausage seasoned with spices), pork served with potato knoden, spit-roasted ox and the famous Bretzel (circular bread).

The festival area covers 34.5 hectares and will host 470 exhibitors, including 153 from the catering industry and 123 entertainment and entertainment attractions. The Oide Wiesn, the historic part of the fair, will welcome 41 exhibitors.
Oktoberfest news and highlights
Among the novelties of this year stands out the 'vr4kids' project, a virtual experience designed to allow children and young people with disabilities to visit the Wiesn virtually. Three new rides and attractions, including the "Kick Down" and the "Grand Carousel", promise to surprise visitors with unique and adrenaline-pumping experiences. For those who like a challenge, there's "Laser-Pix," a race where participants can shoot at animated and moving targets, while "Jim & Jasper's Wild Wasser" offers Europe's largest transportable water attraction.

Oktoberfest opens on September 21 and ends on October 6. The gastronomic establishments will follow specific hours, while the rides will operate from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 23:30 and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. The tents at Oide Wiesn will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
