Admission to the exhibition is free. The inauguration took place on September 10 at 5.30 pm.

The exhibition itinerary was created with the aim of combining the images that transformed Warhol into one of the protagonists of twentieth-century visual culture with a more personal story of the artist, also built through meetings, friendships and testimonies linked to his European and Italian experience.

The exhibition brings together 51 works by Andy Warhol, over 60 documents on his life and 37 works by Pop artists linked to his universe. Paintings, photographs, books, objects and archival materials thus allow us to follow in parallel the evolution of his artistic production and the construction of a public image destined to influence art, fashion, music, advertising and contemporary culture.

From Marilyn to Campbell's Soup: Warhol's works on display in Rome

Among the works on display are some of the most recognizable subjects of the Warholian universe: Marilyn Monroe, Campbell's Soup, Dollar Sign, Kiku and Ladies & Gentlemen, along with portraits of Liza Minnelli, Joseph Beuys and Man Ray and the portrait of Regina Schrecker made in 1983. The exhibition also includes record covers, historical issues of Interview magazine, memorabilia and objects related to the Factory.

One of the most interesting aspects of the exhibition for those who know above all the Warhol of silkscreen prints is precisely the presence of personal documents. Letters, work materials, studies and testimonies reconstruct a lesser-known dimension of the artist, from training to relationships with personalities such as Mick Jagger, Truman Capote and Elizabeth Taylor

Dino Pedriali's photographs and Warhol's relationship with Italy

A specific nucleus is dedicated to Dino Pedriali's photography and Andy Warhol's relationship with Italy. The exhibition presents 28 photographs from the Dino Pedriali Archive, taken during the artist's Italian season and also linked to the Ladies & Gentlemen experience.

The Italian dimension is also central to the very genesis of the exhibition. The curator Gianfranco Rosini met Warhol in Rome in 1975, on the occasion of the exhibition dedicated to Ladies and Gentlemen and drag queens organized by Giuliana Romani Adami Donà Delle Rose. From that meeting was born a personal relationship with the artist and with his cultural environment, today the basis of the reading proposed by Forever Love.

The dialogue with the history of Italian art also emerges in the homage to Paolo Uccello, through a Warholian reinterpretation of a detail of St. George and the Dragon, ideally relating the Renaissance with the serial language of Pop Art.

The Vaccheria becomes the "House of Pop Art" in Rome

The choice of the venue is part of the cultural path developed in recent years by the Vaccheria. The space of the Municipio IX Roma EUR is consolidating its vocation towards American Pop Art, New Pop and the Italian scene, with particular attention to the so-called Roman school of Piazza del Popolo. The exhibition dedicated to Warhol therefore also marks a new phase in the project of the "House of Pop Art".

During the first days of the exhibition, the program also includes the Pop Art Festival, with meetings, guided tours and activities also dedicated to children.
