Cathay Pacific refurbishes The Wing, First lounge in Hong Kong
Cathay Pacific renews its premium ground offering with the new The Wing, First, the airline's historic lounge at Hong Kong International Airport, which officially reopens on April 22, 2026 after a major restyling.
For passengers, this is a significant novelty because it concerns one of the symbolic spaces of the carrier's pre-flight experience in Hong Kong, redesigned to offer more comfortable, reserved environments consistent with the evolution of the company's premium services.
Located in the east of Terminal 1, The Wing, First has been part of Cathay Pacific's airport experience since the opening of Hong Kong Airport in 1998. The new project is once again the result of a collaboration with London-based studio StudioIlse and further develops the design language already associated with the company's flagship lounges.
The new space combines contemporary design and comfort inspired by the home environment, maintaining the warmth and sense of familiarity already appreciated by customers, but at the same time introducing a broader approach to spaces, catering and service. It offers an even more curated experience, with greater attention to the privacy and well-being of the passenger before departure.
The new The Wing, First evolves the design of the lounge by maintaining already recognizable distinctive elements, such as green onyx, and introducing walnut wood as the main material, together with granite flooring, chosen as a reference to the Chinese architectural tradition. The environment is completed by a new exclusive collection of furniture and lighting, created for Cathay Pacific lounges with premium materials and ergonomic criteria.
At the center of the lounge is the Atrium, an open and bright space that revolves around the green onyx bar and the Pantry, with a self-service offer of snacks and light proposals. Throughout the day, the dining options range from breakfast and afternoon tea to a bistro-style evening offering.
For those looking for a more structured experience, the Dining Room offers à la carte table service with Asian and international cuisine. The menu includes signature proposals, monthly specials and regional Chinese dishes developed in collaboration with Mott 32.
On the wellness front, The Retreat, already introduced at The Pier, First, also arrives in this lounge, with seven private cabins dedicated to foot or neck and shoulder massages. The Alcove, on the other hand, offers five multifunctional spaces with a table and refill, suitable for eating, reading or working. The new shower suites also allow you to customize the experience thanks to water and lighting technologies with modes dedicated to purifying, refreshing or relaxing.
Finally, for privacy and work, The Bureau makes its debut, a completely enclosed space designed to offer maximum privacy, suitable for both concentration and small meetings, with two adjustable lighting modes: Engaged and Focused.
The reopening of The Wing, First is part of a wider plan to enhance Cathay Pacific's lounges, both in Hong Kong and in other key cities on the network. The renovation program had already begun last year with the reopening of The Bridge in Hong Kong and the Cathay Pacific Lounge in Beijing, both of which are undergoing a major restyling.
The renovation of the lounges will continue in the coming months. Later this year, Cathay Pacific will open its first lounge in New York, to coincide with the move to the new Terminal 6 at John F. Kennedy International Airport. In Hong Kong, The Wing, Business will also undergo a major renovation, with reopening scheduled for 2027.
