United Airlines flies from Olbia to New York Newark
The new route includes Olbia among the ten new international destinations announced by the US company for 2027 and further expands direct connections between Sardinia and the United States.
Olbia-Newark three times a week
The Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)-Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB) route will be operated three times a week with Boeing 767-300ER.
For those departing from Sardinia, the new flight will allow you to reach the New York metropolitan area non-stop and use Newark as a hub to continue to numerous cities of the United network in the United States and the Americas.
The connection is also particularly important in the opposite direction, facilitating the arrival of North American travellers directly in the north-east of Sardinia without having to make a connection at another European or Italian airport.
A strategic link for tourism in Sardinia
Olbia is the main air gateway to numerous tourist destinations in the north-east of Sardinia. From Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) you can easily reach the Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo, Porto Rotondo, Golfo Aranci and numerous towns in Gallura.
Newark expands possibilities to continue in the United States
Newark-Liberty EWR Airport is one of United Airlines' major worldwide hubs. For those departing from Olbia, this means being able to use the flight not only to reach New York, but also as the first segment of an itinerary to other US destinations served by the company. The possibility of combining a direct connection from Sardinia with United's domestic network can also make the route attractive for passengers heading beyond the east coast of the United States.

Olbia is part of a wider international expansion announced by United for 2027, which includes ten new cities in Europe and Asia.

United will simultaneously strengthen its presence in Italy with the new Newark-Catania connection four times a week from May 28, 2027 and with a new Washington Dulles-Milan Malpensa route three times a week.
The expansion confirms the growing interest of US companies in Italian destinations with a strong international tourism component, combining the traditional gateways of Rome and Milan with direct connections to leisure markets such as Sardinia, Sicily and Puglia.
