New direct connection between Venice and Beijing
Venice Marco Polo Airport expands its intercontinental network with the announcement of the new direct flight between Venice and Beijing, a connection that strengthens the role of the Veneto airport in relations between Italy and China and consolidates the long-haul development strategy carried out by the SAVE Group.
Its value was underlined by Enrico Marchi, President of the SAVE Group, who spoke on the sidelines of the XVI session of the Joint Economic Commission, highlighting the long preparatory work developed together with Air China, with the support of the Italian Government, Minister Antonio Tajani, the Italian Embassy in China and the Chinese Authorities.
The new connection represents a further step forward for Venice airport, which thus adds a second direct flight to China, after the one to Shanghai, activated about a year and a half ago. According to SAVE, the success of the Shanghai route, with constantly growing flows, a progressive increase in weekly frequencies and an average load factor of 85%, has confirmed the potential of the Chinese market for Marco Polo.
The opening of the route to Beijing also takes on symbolic and strategic significance. Venice, in fact, due to its history and its international vocation, returns to strengthen its role as a bridge between worlds, promoting not only mobility, but also economic, cultural and tourist exchanges between the two countries.
The announcement comes at a time of growing attention by the SAVE Group towards connections with China. This is also confirmed by the recent activation, at Montichiari airport, also part of the North East Pole managed by SAVE, of a new cargo flight on the Xi'an-Brescia route, a sign of an expanding relationship on both the passenger and cargo fronts.
With the new Venice-Beijing flight, Marco Polo therefore strengthens its position among the most dynamic Italian airports in the development of long-haul traffic, contributing in a concrete way to the connectivity of the territory and to the support of the local and national economy.
