Ancona airport adheres to ENAC's 'Autism' project
The most peaceful and enjoyable stay possible at the airport for autistic passengers and their families
From this year, Ancona airport has also officially joined the project "Autism, traveling through the airport", promoted by the National Civil Aviation Authority (ENAC) in collaboration with Assaeroporti, Aeroporti 2030 and various sector associations. The management company Ancona International Airport has actively involved the ANGSA Marche APS association (National Association of Parents of People with Autism) to implement the initiative in the Marche airport.
This project, launched in 2015, is part of the numerous ENAC initiatives dedicated to the protection of the rights of all passengers, with particular attention to those who need personalized assistance. The main objective is to create a welcoming and familiar airport environment, encouraging serene interaction between autistic passengers and airport staff.
This important project, which today covers almost all Italian airports, is also expanding with the participation of airlines, including ITA Airways, which offers autistic passengers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the experience of flying through a simulator.
Among the main initiatives envisaged by the project:
- Illustrative and informative brochures, with images and simplified language, to virtually guide the passenger through the airport phases, from arrival to boarding.
- A dedicated brochure for parents and carers, with practical tips.
- Familiarization visits to Ancona International Airport, allowing autistic passengers and their companions to visit the facility a few days before departure to gain more confidence.
For more information and to book a familiarization visit, you can consult the official web page of Ancona airport.
