New identity for Salerno airport

The airport becomes "Salerno Costa d'Amalfi and Cilento Airport" and strengthens its role in the Campania airport system

The Salerno airport changes its name and vision: the "Salerno Costa d'Amalfi and Cilento Airport" has been officially inaugurated, a new name that extends the territorial appeal to two of the most iconic areas of Italian tourism.

The ceremony, hosted at the airport's boarding hall, was attended by local and national institutions, including Pierluigi Di Palma (President of ENAC), Carlo Borgomeo (President of Gesac and Assaeroporti), the undersecretaries Tullio Ferrante and Antonio Iannone, and the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca. The naming was made official by the ENAC Campania Territorial Director, Carlo Marfisi.

Just one year after the start of scheduled flights - which began on 11 July 2024 - the airport has registered 370,000 passengers, strongly entering the Campania airport system, now managed by a single entity in an integrated logic between Salerno and Naples.

In the first phase of development, investments of 80 million euros were made, part of an overall plan of 223 million. Among the main works:

  • runway extension
  • new general aviation terminal (to be completed by 2025)
  • expansion of the Fire Brigade
  • renovation of the existing terminal, roads and parking lots.

Thanks to solid partnerships with airlines, the airport now offers 16 direct connections, 13 of which are international, operated by the main European low-cost carriers (easyJet, Ryanair, Volotea, Wizz Air) and British Airways.

  • Italy: Bergamo, Turin, Milan
  • Europe: Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Bucharest, Geneva, Lyon, London (Gatwick and Stansted), Marseille, Nantes, Paris Orly, Tirana, Vienna.

With this new identity, Salerno airport proposes itself as a privileged gateway to high-quality tourism, extending its range of action to Cilento, a UNESCO heritage site and land of cultural, food and wine and naturalistic excellence.

A strategic choice that strengthens the attractiveness of the territory and positions Salerno as an international hub of experiential tourism, at the center of a network of European connections and sustainable airport development.
